Hi, Good idea to set up this blog. I didn't know who Mabana Girl was, and wondered if there was any thing/place called Mabana besides the one I knew about. So I googled it. It was fun to look at the Mabana Chapel web-site. Darcy, did you give them some of the history info? I returned last night to Spokane, after being in Oly for most of the week. One improvement I saw in Mom was that she seemed to have better lung capacity - not so easily winded. She did mention a couple days ago, tho, that she sometimes felt worried that she wasn't breathing enough. My impression is that mom's doctors view things like this: trigeminal neuralgia is under control with the medicine. Blood clots are taken care of by the warfarin she is taking. The cause of the "numb" arm is unknown, so there's no need to worry about it. The TIA (mini stroke) resolved itself, so that's taken care of. It doesn't seem to me that they are things to just forget about. Hopefully, she will get that appointment with the cardiologist, and he could have some better answers. Doesn't it seem like blood clots, numb arm and TIA could all be related, and be heart related? All for now, Love, Denise
Hi Denise, I ran across the Mabana Chapel info myself, and was interested in their history section. Mom had mentioned that Ethel was involved in Sunday School. But I hadn't realized it was a national organization and started on or near their homesite. It would be fun to visit them sometime and see if they have any old records or photos.
Thanks for your information about Mom's condition. It helps to hear from everyone to get a clearer picture. I guess it's not unusual for doctors to not spend a lot of time trying to figure out the causes of problems, after the crisis is over, but it seems to me that the trigeminal neuralgia can't be under control if she has to spend hours waiting in emergency while in pain. We'll have to be good advocates and more assertive than typical Ashford behavior :)
PS that sweater from Christmas. Don't worry about it. It was Don's - but he just picked it up second hand and is not desperate to get it back. He probably hasn't even missed it, since he got a nice new sweater from Mom for Christmas. So, feel free to donate to goodwill, if that's convenient for you.

Oops, that previous comment was from Darcy, not Don. I had just been showing him how to see that his post really did get published.
